Athens , Georgia , the ultimate college town, will be taken over the weekend of April 17-18 by Georgia 4-H! The University of Georgia Collegiate 4-H Club has hosted over 1000 4-H'ers, volunteers, and leaders who have attended "Weekend in the Classic City" since 2001. Held on campus at the University of Georiga, 4-H members spend the weekend becoming more prepared for college life through attending college prep informational sessions and listening to guest speakers such as Miss UGA and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Ambassadors. The delegates also interact with Group Leaders who represented collegiate 4-H from over 14 colleges and universities from across Georgia.

Saturday begins with pictures featuring the beloved UGA mascot Hairy Dawg. Students then speed off to the Campus Tour Challenge, during which 4-H'ers discovered historical facts and points of significant interest on UGA's campus. They also attend informational sessions hosted by CAES Ambassadors on "Packing for College, "Facebook Safety," and "Professional Networking."

4-H'ers will learn more about Georgia colleges and universities through an informative college fair, participate in a dorm tour, dine at the East Campus Village Summit, and attend night recreation at the UGA Block and Bridle Rodeo.

The Sunday program continues with workshops hosted by the UGA Office of Admissions informing students about completing a college application, housing, academic success, and college costs. Students enjoy a live performance from "The Accidentals" a male accapella vocal group, and meet other UGA celebrities. Melissa Daniel Lu, the first collegiate student leader of WICC in 2001, will join us this year to serve as our keynote speaker.

Geoffrey Brown, Junior at the University of Georgia is serving as Conference Chairman. Over 30 collegiate 4-H'ers participate in planning and conducting the event, led by the State of Georgia Collegiate 4-H Club Advisor, Lauren Griffeth. "Weekend in the Classic City: Party in the UGA " will empower Georgia 4-H'ers to be prepared for life after high school! Registration for this event will open on January 1st at a rate of $70. Registration includes meals during the conference, lodging, night recreation, and t-shirt. Conference registration will begin at 9am and WICC will conclude at noon on Sunday.
