Fantastic 4-H'er: Seventeen year old 4-H‘er, Asher Smith is from Wheeler County. Asher is a twelfth grade Senior 4-H’er at Wheeler County High School. His main 4-H projects have included Health, Physical, Biological & Earth Science, and Pizza. Asher’s 4-H highlights include Project Achievement, the Pumpkin growing contest, 4-H Camps and the state Pop Tab collection service project. According to his application, “4-H has helped to bring out the ‘real me’. I learned to open up and express my feelings about topics and issues that were important to me, and people listened and made me feel like what I had to say was important.” and “Throughout my 4-H career, the Pop Tabs for Charity program has been closest to my heart. My personal challenges have made me more responsive to people in need around me, especially children, and 4-H has been a channel through which I have been able to serve“. When asked what he wished others knew about 4-H, Smith replied “I wish others could know how fun 4-H really is. Although there is hard work sometimes, the rewards are great.” After completion of high school, Asher plans to attend Brewton-Parker College. Congratulations to Asher Smith from Wheeler County, this week’s Fantastic 4-H’er! To read more, visit: http://www.georgia4h.org/fantastic4her/default.htm
