Fantastic 4-H'er: Seventeen year old 4-H‘er, Ashleigh Day is from Peach County. Ashleigh is a twelfth grade Senior 4-H’er at Veritas Home-School Academy. Her main 4-H projects have included Horse Judging, Horse Quiz Bowl, Veterinary Science, Leadership in Action, Dean’s Award, and many more. Her 4-H highlights include National and State 4-H Congress, Mastering in Veterinary Science, Horse Judging and Horse Quiz Bowl; receiving Outstanding 4-H’er in her county for several years in a row, winning a show horse for her 4-H club involvement and winning first place with her Senior Mini-Booth at the Georgia National Fair. According to her application, 4-H “has given me many opportunities to meet new people each and every day. With the knowledge and skills 4-H has given me, I find it easy to express my ideas to others and to learn more about one’s interests and lifestyles,” and “4-H has showed me so many ways where I can make a positive impact in my life and the lives of others in my community. By working to serve others, I can be thankful that I had the skills and talents to improve someone else’s situation.” Day wishes others knew “4-H is an organization where one can participate and become involved no matter who you are! Now I feel that I can succeed no matter where I am or what is required of me!” Currently, Ashleigh plans to attend Macon State College for the 2009-2010 school year, then transfer to Berry College to major in Animal Science.
