Fantastic 4-H'er: Fifteen year old 4-H‘er, DeAnn Taylor, is from Tift County. DeAnn is a is a 10th grader at Tift County High School. Her main 4-H projects have included Human Development, Entomology, History, and 4-H Teen Leader Certification. Among her 4-H highlights are 2007-2008 Southwest District Junior Board member , Team member of the 3rd place State BB Team, Team member of the 11th place National BB Team, and Area Cotton Boll and Consumer Jamboree – Junior High Judger and Overall High Individual. According to her application, “The 4-H program has taught me about using my head and heart to help others. I put head and heart together because to me, I cannot separate the two when thinking of one special event that has shaped me. I used my head to organize 4-H’ers for the Vietnam moving Wall to visit Tifton. This is just one example of how 4-H has helped me develop my Head and my Heart.” When asked what she wished other knew about 4-H, DeAnn responded ” That 4-H is not just about the work involved with projects, judging teams and portfolios, but that it is about people. In 4-H, you make many friends from all over the state. 4-H is for everyone, not just a certain clique“.
