Fantastic 4-H'er: Eighteen year old Senior 4-H’er, Jazmin Thomas, is from Houston County. Jazmin is a Senior at Perry High School and her 4-H projects have included Performing Arts General, General Recreation, Teen Leadership, Judging at Project Achievement, Cotton Boll and Consumer Jamboree, Poultry Judging, the Banquet Planning Committee, 4-H Fest Planning Committee, Showcase Showdown, Sigma Lambda Chi, Various fair competitions, etc. Jazmin has also served in numerous leadership positions including the Southwest District 4-H Board of Directors, and President of the Houston County Teen Club. According to her application, “4-H has helped me decide exactly what I want to be in life. 4-H has given me the tools to find a career best suited for me.” and “Being a 4-H’er has allowed me to meet people from many different ethnicities, backgrounds, religions and creeds. Hanging out with these people…..has helped shape me as a person.” When asked what she wished other knew about 4-H, Thomas answered,” I wish people knew that 4-H isn’t all about animals and farming. I wish I could make a global PSA and inform everyone that 4-H has something to offer every individual. I wish others could hear stories of how 4-H has changed so many lives and what a huge impact this phenomenal organization has had on my life. Her future plans include attending a four year university and majoring in Agricultural Communications and pursuing a career in Extension. Jazmin’s 4-H Agent, Stacy Ellison, says ”Jazmin is an excellent example of the kind of youth 4-H builds.” Congratulation to Jazmin Thomas of Houston County, this weeks Fantastic 4-H’er!
