Fantastic 4-H'er:

emblem Ben Mayfield

Sixteen year old Senior 4-H’er, Ben Mayfield, is an eleventh grader at Lumpkin County High School.  Ben’s 4-H Agent describes him as “close to being a perfect 4-H’er” because “his heart is there to get others involved for them to learn and grow”.  Ben has served on the Northeast Junior and Senior District 4-H Boards of Directors as well as the State4-H Board of Directors during the 2008-2009 year.  He has also served on the statewide planning committees for the Georgia Youth Summit and Senior 4-H Camp.  According to his application, “I have always been kind to others but with 4-H, I have learned to be helpful and grateful to many more people – both youth and adults.”   When asked what he wished others knew about 4-H, Mayfield replied, “Even though out roots are in agriculture, 4-H is here for everyone.  There are so many places 4-H can take you.”  Ben plans to attend college upon graduation from high school and major in education.  He says, “Some day I want to be a great 4-H agent.”  We have every confidence that Ben will do just that!  Congratulations to Ben Mayfield from Lumpkin County, this week’s Fantastic 4-H’er!  To read more, visit:  http://www.georgia4h.org/fantastic4her/default.htm
