Great Promise Kids is a pilot program, designed cooperatively by the Department of Community Affairs (DCA), the Fanning Institute, Georgia 4-H, and numerous public and private sector leaders. Through this program, we provide resources and partnerships to engage middle school students in positive youth development. Since research shows that youth benefit from stimulating adults, peers, and surroundings, we offer both peer leaders and adult mentors, in the context of community service. The program also establishes opportunities for on-the-job training in high school, thereby giving these at-risk youth—Great Promise Kids—a reason to stay in school and complete their education. |
