One $1,000 Scholarship

Eligibility Guidelines:

  1. Recipient must attend the Georgia Junior National Livestock Banquet on February 22, 2013, in Perry, GA, to be recognized and to receive payment of this scholarship.
  2. Applicants must be in the 12th grade at the time of application.
  3. Scholarship request must be made within one year following graduation from high school.  In the event the scholarship is not used within the year of limitation, the winner should request a time extension.  Extensions should be requested in a letter to Mary Ann Parsons; Georgia 4-H Foundation; Hoke Smith Annex; Athens, GA 30602.  Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of scholarship. 
  4. Recipient must satisfactorily complete 12 credit hours of college credit and maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or better before requesting scholarship payment.
  5. The $1000 scholarship may be applied toward: tuition at any two - or four-year college or university; room & board; books and supplies; or any other education-related expenses.
  6. Recipient must send a written thank you note to the parents of Johnathon Gabriel at:

  7. Recipient must also send a copy of the note to the scholarship selection committee in care of Heather K. Shultz.

  9. Request for payment of scholarship funds must be made through County Extension Agent or Agriculture Education Teacher.

Stan Kalino Memorial Scholarship

One $500 Scholarship; the completed application and attached letters of recommendation must be received (postmarks will not be accepted) by Heather K. Shultz, at the indicated address, no later than February 1, 2012.

Eligibility Guidelines:

  1. Applicants must be in the 12th grade to apply. Applicants must be entered as an exhibitor of the 2012 Georgia Junior National Market Steer and/or Breeding Heifer Show.
  2. Applicants must participate in 12th grade Cattle Showmanship to be eligible for this scholarship. Placings in showmanship may be considered in the final placing of this scholarship.
  3. Applicants must be present during the Top Five Heifer Drive at the 2012 Georgia Junior National Livestock Show on Friday, February 24th, to be recognized and to receive scholarship payment information.
  4. Scholarship requests must be made within one year following graduation from high school. In the event the scholarship is not used within the year of limitation, the winner should request a time extension. Extensions should be requested in a letter to Mary Ann Parsons; Georgia 4-H Foundation; Hoke Smith Annex; Athens, GA 30602. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the scholarship. 
  5. Recipients must satisfactorily complete one (1) quarter or one (1) semester at an institution of higher learning before requesting scholarship payment.
  6. The $500 scholarship may be applied toward: tuition at an institution of higher learning; room & board; books and supplies; or any other education-related expenses.
  7. Recipients must send a written thank you note to Mrs. Jean Kalino, 273 Briar Crest Drive, Jefferson, GA 30549. Recipient must also send a copy of the note with the completed “Scholarship Request for Payment Form” when submitting paperwork.
  8. Recipients must attach a copy of quarter or semester grades to the Request for Payment Form, by sending either an official college transcript or a copy of the grade report sent to the student’s home. Website printouts of the grades are not acceptable.
  9. Request for payment of scholarship funds must be made through County Extension Agent or Agriculture Education Teacher.

Guthrie Dairy Youth Leadership Award

Purpose of Award: This cash award will be given annually to 4-H or FFA members involved in youth dairy programs or activities and who need financial assistance in order to participate in workshops, conferences, field days or any other dairy-related activity that would enhance their leadership abilities.

Eligibility Guidelines:

  1. Recipient must use the award money to attend the designated program, activity or tour as indicated in their application, no later than one year from the application deadline, i.e.) No later than January 13, 2013.
  2. Applicants must be enrolled in the 9th - 12th grade for the 2011 - 2012 academic year to apply.
  3. Failure to complete the designated leadership development program or activity by January 1, 2013 will result in forfeiture of the award, and all monies will be returned to the scholarship fund.
  4. Upon completion of the designated activity, program or tour for which the money was awarded, the recipient must submit a report of not more than one page detailing how the Guthrie Youth Dairy Award enhanced his or her leadership abilities.

Georgia Junior Livestock Foundation Scholarship

These scholarships are being handled by the Georgia Junior Livestock Foundation.  Please direct all correspondence and questions to the contact people listed on the application.

Purpose of Award: The Georgia Junior Livestock Foundation is offering five $1000 scholarships to high school seniors who have participated in the Georgia Junior Livestock Show. These scholarships will be awarded to students who have shown beef, dairy, swine, sheep or goats at the state show at least once during their four years of high school. Deadline for application is February 1, 2012.

Eligibility Guidelines:

  1. Applicant must be a resident of the State of Georgia
  2. Applicant must be a high school senior
  3. Applicant must be planning on attending a secondary school following graduation from high school including college, technical and trade schools
  4. Applicant must have been an exhibitor of the Georgia Junior National Livestock Show at least one time between the 9th and 12th grade
  5. Applicant must submit a typed essay of 750 words or less describing ……the benefits they received from exhibiting livestock, the effect that experience had on their lives and how it may have influenced their career choice
  6. Applicant must submit two letters of reference from teachers, advisors or cooperative extension agents
  7. Applicant must submit a letter from their high school that they are in good academic standing
  8. Applicant must submit a photo with application
  9. Recipients must use the scholarship money for tuition, room and board, textbooks and supplies or other education‐related expenses
  10. Recipients must satisfactorily complete one quarter or semester with a minimum course load of 10 hours and a GPA of 2.0 or above to receive payment
  11. Recipients must attach a copy of their grades to the Request for Payment Form sending either an official transcript or a copy of the grade report from school attended to receive payment
  12. Recipients must send a written thank you note to the Georgia Junior Livestock Foundation
  13. In the event the scholarship is not used within one year following graduation from high school, the recipient may request a time extension in the form of a letter explaining the delay in the use of the monies (example: military service, illness, financial limitations, etc.)

Horse Show Scholarships

Four divisions are offered: Stock Seat, Saddle Seat, Hunt Seat, and Contest. A $500 college scholarship is awarded to each of the four Senior Champions, who also achieve Master 4-H status. Senior 4-H champions become eligible for their scholarships upon completion of one quarter/semester of college with a 2.0 average. If funds allow, awards will be presented to Division Reserve Champions, as well.
