200 military family members enjoyed spring at Rock Eagle 4-H Center
for the second Military Family Weekend. Arriving on Saturday morning,
families chose from numerous 4-H workshops, environmental education
classes and recreational activities around Rock Eagle 4-H Center.
After enjoying lunch and dinner at the new Rock Eagle Dining Hall,
families gathered at Talmadge Auditorium for a performance by Clovers
& Company, the well-known 4-H performing arts group. After Clovers
& Company, families sang songs at a campfire, heard stories
of the Native Americans originally residing in the area of the Effigy
Mound, engaged in physical activities with Wii Fit or watched Wall-e
on Cloverleaf Circle.
Sunday morning, after a brief Citizenship Ceremony and Flag Raising,
family members joined and cheered on runners in the first annual
Clovers & Camo 5K and Fun Run. Clovers and Camo 5K results included:
Joseph Campbell - Overall Male - 19:34
Bo Ryles - Masters Male - 21:38
Lindi Humphries - Overall Female - 23:04
Rhonda Trainor - Masters Male - 25:17
Evaluations share families tremendously enjoyed the Family Weekend--98%
