4-H Project Achievement-Southeast District Junior Senior Project
Achievement

friendly pdf of information
The first Corn Club of
1904 selected
and completed projects and shared the results. This first 4-H club also
held
the first Project Achievement Competition. 4-H Project Achievement is a
self-directed individual competition including presentations and, when
age
appropriate, a documented record of project work, leadership and
service based
on experiential learning activities. Youth beginning at age nine and
continuing
until nineteen have the opportunity to explore an area of interest and
share
their knowledge through a competitive process designed to meet youth
development
and age appropriate standards. Projects are offered in more than 50
different
areas with nearly every topic of interest or educational area available
for
exploration and presentation. District
Project Achievement competition is supported by University of Georgia
faculty members in the College of Agricultural & Environmental
Sciences,
College of Family & Consumer Sciences and Warnell School of
Forestry along
with 4-H alumni, professionals in the field and other supporters.
Project
competition is facilitated under the coordination of twenty project
coordinators recruiting more than 25 judges that score competition in
conjunction with more than 100 county faculty, staff and volunteers.
Southeast
District submitted 715 project portfolios
summarize work
in projects, leadership and service. 670
seventh-twelfth grade
youth presented illustrated talks, food labs,
performances and demonstrations the day of competition.
