Dean's Awards 4-H Projects


One of the highest awards Georgia 4-H Members can earn is the 4-H Dean's Award. Competition for the Dean's Awards is open to all Senior 4-H members regardless of their prior participation or winning status in other projects.  Dean's Award participants will submit a cummulative (4-H career) portfolio and participate in an interview session.  The scoring criteria and guidelines for portfolio submission can be found in the
Georgia 4-H Awards & Activities Guidebook.

Portfolios are due in Athens at the State 4-H Office by 5:00 p.m. on May 30.  Portfolios (original with 2 copies and submission form) may be mailed or hand delivered but must arrive at the State 4-H Office (Hoke Smith Annex) by 5 p.m. on May 30.  Portfolios postmarked May 31st may not be accepted.

Interviews will be held at State 4-H Council on Friday, June 20. An interview schedule will be sent to counties following portfolio submissions.  The schedule will also be posted on line.

An award will be presented in each of the following five areas:
. Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
. Citizenship
. Communications and the Arts
. Family and Consumer Sciences
. Leadership

Awards will include the following:
. Olympic Type Medallion
. Master 4 H'er Status
. A $500 scholarship
. Recognition on 4 H Day at the Capitol
