Candidates for Georgia 4-H State Board of Directors must complete this entire packet in order to be considered for nomination.Please be sure that all information is complete and accurate. Packets may be handwritten or typed.  Applicatons are not judged on neatness but rather used to certify a candidates eligibility. Packets received by June 9th will be available for review during State 4-H Council. Applications after June 11th may or may not be added to the review information but are not guaranteed submission. Please be sure that the packet is legible and accurate.  Applicants may retype the application as long as the appropriate headings and information is included. All of the General Information must be included.

Georgia 4-H Board of Directors Members are expected to:

1.  Submit a senior portfolio and give a demonstration at District Project Achievement (unless they a re ineligible).

2.  Compete in the Leadership in Action (State Recognition) OR compete in Dean's Awards

3.  Compete in at least one area or state judging event OR one area or state animal show OR other area or state competitive event

4.  Plan and lead the following statewide events: 4-H Fall Forum, State 4-H Council, State 4-H Congress.

5. Participate in G.O.T. (Georgia Officers' Training) June 22-25 in the Atlanta area

6.  Participate in Officer Installation, Thursday, July 24 at State 4-H Congress Annual Banquet.

7. Particpate in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Pacesetter's Luncheon, December 2008

8. Represent Georgia 4-H Board of Directors during atleast one of the following: 4-H Day at the Capitol, Agriculture Day at the Capitol, Junior National Livestock Show, Georgia Agribusiness Council Harvest Ball or other requested event.

9.  Attend planning meetings and other events as scheduled. Since planning meetings are important to the success of 4-H events, absence from planning meetings without excuse may   disqualify an officer form participating in state presentations.

10. Assume responsibility for travel to and from events. You must travel with your county, whenever possible. You must have permission from your parents to make other travel plans.

11. Be an outstanding county 4-H member. Represent your home county and your district well. Keep the lines of communication with your county Extension agent open. We recommend that you form a project club and spread the word about 4-H by presenting/writing at least two speeches or news articles about 4-H.

12. Set an example in attitude and action for all 4-H'ers in the state. The 4-H Code of Conduct is the minimum standard of your behavior.

13. Work cooperatively and effectively with fellow board members, volunteers, and 4-H Faculty. Be respectful, dedicated, and committed to making this year a success.

If my son or daughter is elected as a member of the Georgia 4-H State Board of Directors, I understand that he/she will have certain obligations (including but not limited to those listed above) and responsibilities during 2008-09 program year. I agree that he/she will not go on an extended vacation, accept a job, attend summer school, nor enroll in college if it interferes with the carrying out of his/her responsibilities. I further understand it is my son's/daughter's responsibility to arrange his/her transportation to and from scheduled 4-H meetings and activities.
