Grant Success Stories

Crisp County 4-H Club

Crisp County 4-Her Kathryn Leigh Buford began the "PJ's and Ponies" Project when she discovered that there were 98 foster chidren in her home town of Cordele, Georgia. She was shocked when she found out that often these children were taken from their homes with just the clothes on their backs. Shortly there after, she founded "PJ's and Ponies" which partnered with the local Department of Family and Children's Services.

Kathyrn Leigh and the Crisp County 4-Hers joined together to clean up and update the visitation center at DEFACS. A Community Pride Grant from Wal-mart allowed the purchase of pajamas for the foster children and a flat screen television, pony DVD's, and baby crib for the newly rennovated visitation center. Kathryn Leight was recently selected as one of two Leadership in Action winners at State 4-H Congress.
