Competition Guidelines:
- To develop leadership abilities, build character and assume citizenship responsibilities.
- To develop skills in public speaking.
- To develop and reflect self-confidence through effective communications.
- To learn to research topics of interest and organize information.
- To learn more about how we react to and interact with the world around us.
- To be actively involved in community and personal areas of interest.
- To develop knowledge and skills that will be useful in later life.
- To explore career opportunities in the broad field of communication media.
- To share with others the ideas and experiences that are an outgrowth of this activity.
Awards & Recognition:Any Senior 4-H'er is eligible to participate. A county is not limited to the number of competitors in the contest Speech must be eight minutes or less. Visuals and props are not permitted. Area winner will be the individual who has the highest sum score.
All essay participants will receive a 4-H certificate of participation 1st, 2nd & 3rd place district winner will receive savings bonds 1st place state winner will receive $500 savings bond
